Put into the hands of Jesus Christ, we need to anticipate that anything’s possible… as we care for others. Eg. 5 loaves & 2 fish can feed thousands and leave leftovers because Jesus didn’t come to give bread; He is Bread.

Jesus’ Community is “uncommon” for its tangible culture of love. Jesus came to fulfill God’s plan of redemption. People were drawn to Him because of his love and mercy. Our calling is to love as He loved so that people will still be drawn to Him. That both creates and results in community.

After his resurrection, Jesus ascended and is now enthroned in heaven, but present with his suffering and sinful church through the Spirit, strengthening her to complete her mission. The community of Christ-followers are the extension of the incarnation in the world until Jesus returns. This is our high calling.

It seems like everybody has an opinion about Jesus. But often we want to talk about Jesus on our own terms. The trouble comes when our opinions don’t line up with reality. When Jesus rode into Jerusalem on a donkey, he didn’t meet everyone’s expectations. Who is Jesus? Why did he come? What does he expect from those who want to follow him?

God wants our heart. In Luke 12:34, Jesus says that our hearts follow our treasure. When God has my time, talent, and treasure, He has my heart. Proportional giving to God can steer our hearts after Him.
